i realise that freja is an easy example, because she's obvious, and she's hot, but still, for her and in general -
ANDROGYNY. YES.
and no, of course not only the look. all its implications. breaking down bogus boundaries. although, of course, without the gender binary androgyny couldn't exist either. it would need no name because it would be a given.

behold this hideos collage of things i want from etsy -

fluttery silk dress - so pretty! high leather boots - to wear with dainty dresses, no tights. red ferragamo heels - idk. black ankle boots - go with everything. saucy underthings - never wrong. flower wreath - i'm a wanker, so what.

now i am not one to fret about skinny models (couldn't it be that what is really corrupting everyone's self-esteem is the IMMEDIATE PRESSURE OF FUNCTIONING which has always messed everyone and everything up, it's not a new phenomenon) but this is really a bit extreme; then again the alienness the model's figure conveys adds to the atmosphere. i'm not saying it looks good, but i am fascinated. apart from that - the mood! the location! wow.

tis the season to be saucy

DEAR DIARY! yesterday i went sales shopping. i had "forgotten" to transfer the rent just for the occasion (well, not really, that was/is true but unrelated) and was most excited! after all i am a fucking modemädchen! what i found: an awesomely ugly hello kitty bracelet (it's "ironic"), very cute and very unflattering tights (transparent beige with beige polka dots), a burgundy-dots-on-navy silk hankie that is to peek out of my blazers' breast pockets because i am, by the way, chuck bass. all of these items weren't even on sale. BUT! then i got home and on the internet. actually i am lying about the chronology here, i did the internet sale shopping before the real life thing. anyways, i went to asosland.

and got fündig! asos brand bra and knickers that aren't modest in the quantity of fabric but offer little peekaboos. princesse tam.tam star bustier that i am most stoked about. my new fashion philosophy: more drama (lets post about that some other time), more trousers. formal menswear elements, or skintight jeans with tshirts of the thinnest and softest cotton - and beneath them the dainty. and for the occasions that i am going to wear my short short dresses - yellowish pink and meshed blue tights, both by falke, but if you can read this then you are most likely blessed with vision. now excuse me while i go apologise to my suitemate. in my pyjamas.

ever since first seeing The Fifth Element somewhen between age 8 and 10 it's my secret favourite film 4eva (so cheesy! so overthetop!), and ever since then i have a big weakness for miss milla jovovich. here is a campaign she did, strenesse blue f/w 97/98

source (also slightly bigger size, and some more)

now these pictures, i really love them, i really really love them from a visceral place, and i don't know why i react so strongly to these (believe me, i do), but i'll try to explain what it is that makes these so alluring to me. explain to you AND to me, that is. so,
maybe that place, how bleak it is, but so beautiful in it. the photography, how the compositions are all lopsided and how the entire thing, especially the colours (those colours!) looks like it's been shot on the cheapest use-once-then-throw-away-camera (though it's probably the opposite and the company paid not exactly cheap sums for the effects, but let me pretend). the styling, how it's technically boring and often not very flattering. milla looking so androgynous (i actually had my hair cut after a picture of this campaign). the intimacy of these. milla('s character) seems to be looking at someone close, look at how vulnerable she often appears here. this series makes me wish they illustrated a story, and i very much want to know what happened before. something bad and she and the one with the eyes/the camera escaped there because they trust each other and don't have to explain things around each other. it's funny, here i am back at the topic of explaining. somehow these tell enough quietly, queitly, just enough to not have to know more. i just can't seem to get at the point i'm trying to make. well, and finally - this is a vacation i want to be on, but i don't even know whether i want to be milla('s character) here, or whether i want to be the one observing her. interestingly enough that is a confusement i often encounter in 'real life', in how i understand, handle, [...] 'real life relationships' of all kinds.

joining in on the fashion thing. bought lately:

striped tee, the loveliest and warmest knit jumper in the most beautiful blue, dramatic black velvet dress from the forties with a lace collar, the shoulder pads are coming out and some of the lenght off i think, a blue velvet dress that constitutes as that dress, oxblood colour bally brogues (all etsy), annnnnnnnnd

a hurr cut (headquarters, schleifmühlgasse, vienna) and a vanilla-coloured silk pan collar with a velvet ribbon (etsy) (i love it). and a coat, but it's black and from h&m thus boring and everyone will own it. and my first skinny trousers in ages. maroon-coloured corduroys! i love them.

what i want:

classic black eight-hole docs, black wool gauze a.p.c. dress, salmon-colour satin bralette (etsy), a floppy hat (i'd prefer gray though; the one above is from asos) (but i would take that hair), cocktail rings (the ones above are from etsy), this lovely but entirely overpriced camisole (etsy).

ha ha at the difference in colour palettes between the two sections.
